Are you feeling like you are stuck in a rut and the Grinch of Christmas is taking residence in your home and your heart? Take courage that you are not alone.
The “ languishing” phenomenon is real and we are all experiencing it in different ways.
For me it has been the lack of desire to complete projects, such as decorating for the holidays and the DIY bedroom update I started two months ago. Incomplete projects or procrastinating are a constant reminder that I am not operating from a place of gratitude or authentic flow. Add to it that I adopted a COVID Kitten (you too right?) and now going anywhere for the weekend requires some pet logistics. I am now responsible for another living creature!
But enough of that! We can all wallow on our lack of enthusiasm or lack of energy, or we can start doing something about it. For me it was starting this blog and inviting my awesome Chicas to contribute. Slowly I am climbing back up and looking forward to engaging in other creative pursuits.
If you are feeling down, you lack zest for the things that used to make you jump out bed, you are not alone. To begin your reset, start small and slowly move to something you are passionate about. If you have an Instagram account, look at some reels! Laughing out loud is proven to release serotonin, the happiness neurotransmitter. Just join in on the fun!
To get you started here are some of my own, levántate mija, strategies I use to get back in the flow:
- Take a warm bath and light a good lavender candle.
- Journal, pray, meditate And go do the things you want to do, or just sit and contemplate how lucky we are to be alive.
- Do something creative. Draw or color in a coloring book. A great app I use is called Lake, very calming with beautiful drawings.
- Get outdoors in nature as much as you can. This may mean that you need to get up early or walk at lunch time if you are still working from an office. Movement is key to good mental and physical health.
- Write down 3 things you want to stop doing and in a safe space burn them and watch the smoke release. Meditate on what that means for you.
- Dance, dance , dance . Turn up your Reggaeton and “perrea.” Let your body loose. Increase blood flow and shakes the pulgas off.
- Call a friend or someone you love and get out for coffee or a decadent dinner or dessert.
- Make yourself a good beautiful breakfast and a cup tea or espresso!
- Take a nap, like in kindergarten.
- Smile often
- Bonus— Play with the Cat!
You can use any of these strategies, or any other that works for you. The important thing is to shake loose and Interrupt the pattern to get back to being the most beautiful version of you. You are unique, powerful and Chingona! We don’t believe in being Pendejas!
And don’t forget to comment and share your very own strategies to beat the Grinch and start enjoying life.
